SADA loves spreading the word about the cloud which is why we SADAians rejoiced as Ingram Micro named us as one of the first members of the newly minted Ingram Micro Cloud Services Network. In addition to providing traditional IT services for the past decade, SADA Systems has been delivering cloud computing solutions to companies and organizations worldwide since 2007. Our inclusion in the Cloud Services Network allows VARs and solution providers to connect and partner with an us to learn how to leverage the cloud computing technology, develop cloud solutions for their clients and and discover ways that SADA can apply its years of cloud expertise to accelerate business initiatives. "Ingram Micro is really responding to forces in the market and demand for cloud expertise. A lot of VARs don't have in-house expertise and are looking to connect with someone because they see this opportunity but can't capitalize on it," said Tony Safoian, president and CEO of SADA Systems. SADA intends to help educate and support VARs and solution providers in the cloud computing space in turn allowing them to build their business in this budding industry.

On Friday, July 23rd, we celebrated the 100th download and install of our User Renamer for Google Apps. What drives SADA in creating these apps is facilitating the overall end-user experience after Google Apps migration and implementation. With over 10 years of IT experience, we understand how frustrating something simple like a Google Apps user account renaming can be. Renaming or transferring a Google Apps account used to be an IT nightmare. Google Apps Gmail Can't Interpret Emails Sent by BPOS / Microsoft Online Services - winmail.dat issue
As the pace by which organizations are migrating their email to the cloud, all types of anomalies and gotchas are discovered by our engineers - and this is expected. This is all new, after all.
One of the most surprising, however, is the simple fact that email sent by the BPOS / Microsoft Online Services exchange servers is unable to be interpreted by recipients who use Google Apps Gmail. Since its creation, email has had the key benefit of being very standards based - users from any platform X have been able to send emails to users on any platform Y with general ease.
Now, we’re not the first to report this issue - in fact, discussions around the Google Apps Gmail & MS Online issue seemed to have been taking place since December 2008. Also, Google Apps Gmail is not the only destination server which seems to have this problem when receiving email from BPOS (interpretation issues from Groupwise & Lotus Notes have also been reported). This is a known issue in Microsoft Exchange servers - however, in the on-premise world, this is a setting that’s possible to configure. In the BPOS world, it is not.
What does it look like? What do emails in Gmail look like when sent from the BPOS platform? See below:
Essentially, all content (text images, etc...) gets translated into a illegible winmail.dat file.
You read the same email inside of Outlook, using POP3, IMAP, or even the Google Apps Sync tool for Outlook, and the email looks just fine.
Technical Cause The reason this happens is because BPOS servers default to sending email in a Microsoft-proprietary Rich Text Format called TNEF. And on the recipient side in Google Apps, this is only reported when mail flows through Postini / Google Message Security servers. In fact, when BPOS sends emails to retail Gmail addresses, the emails are interpreted just fine.

BPOS to Google Apps Gmail, with Postini, email read via Browser/Default Interface = FAIL

Proposed Solution Below is a proposed solution as posted on the TechNet blogs. We have attempted this, and worked closely with Microsoft and Google for a resolution, but there does not seem to be a known resolution at this time. No resolution: Reply from Microsoft Online Services Support Concerning your service request 100609-000749 thank you for the message header. I appreciate it. I researched this issue further and unfortunately, the issue why you cannot receive e-mails sent from a Microsoft Online company is that TNEF data sent by our servers is not supported by Postini, your message filtering service with Google. TNEF data is not a ratified standard data format for message data by the RFC organization. The best point of contact will be Google and see if they can enable support for TNEF data on your filtering service.
Issue Workaround: • Due to TNEF data not being supported by Google, BPOS users sending to Google e-mail account is not supported. • Please contact Google to discuss enabling TNEF compatibility on your Postini filtering service. • Migrate completely to Microsoft Online will resolve issues also.
No resolution: Reply from Google Apps Support This is a known issue with the TNEF format messages in Gmail shown as winmail.dat attachments (sans search will bring up a lot of results). The solution is not to send messages using TNEF format to Gmail recipients. This is the KB describing how to setup Exchange not to send Winmail.dat file to Internet Users:
It is impossible for Gmail to fully support TNEF format since limited information about this format is disclosed. As the MSFT support puts it: "... TNEF data is not a ratified standard data format for message data by the RFC organization ..."
You will need to open a support request with Microsoft Online Services to configure these settings. Actually I found this post online about the similar issue:

At the ConnectWise Partner summit, which took place last week, Florida SADA Systems, Inc. (SADA) announced their new product, CloudToolKit. CloudToolKit is a web-based application intended to provide Value Added Resellers (VARs) with a set of tools to be used in conjunction with cloud-based solutions. SADA created value added tools and utilities found in the CloudToolKit to automatically handle user management, automatic account provisioning, and single sign-on. The CloudToolKit is not yet available for use, but will officially launch on November 16, 2009. Prior to the official launch, SADA is accepting registrations from interested VARs. In addition SADA offered attendees of the ConnectWise Partner Summit an exclusive registration offer. Those who sign up at the ConnectWise Partner Summit will receive their first year of service on CloudToolKit for free.

In 2007, when ASUS launched the Eee PC, few realized the extent to which the little netbook would transform the computer industry. Initially, the vision for this product was a low-cost computing device, something that might appeal to users in emerging markets who might not be able to afford expensive laptops. Of course, the netbook marketplace today no longer resembles that original vision.
ASUS also aimed its groundbreaking product at kids and the education market. This orientation was a good fit for its name (Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play), the design (small keys for small hands), and the first marketing campaign in Asia that made extensive use of child models.
Eee PC Marketing Campaign by ASUS
Unexpected excitement built up even before the Eee PC was introduced to the public. Computer buffs had always known and accepted that the smallest, lightest laptops commanded premium pricing, but now they saw something completely different coming their way. The Eee PC was just as tiny as the best ultraportables, but could be had for a fraction of the cost. The lure was irresistible.
The netbook revolution began. ASUS manufactured 350,000 Eee PCs in the first production run, and it sold out within a few months, snapped up not by kids but by savvy users who wanted a second laptop that they could take everywhere. This was a tremendous demand that almost no one foresaw.
Soon, almost all computer manufacturers were tooling up to create their own netbooks. This turned out to be quick and easy -- they simply took the Intel Atom reference design and added their own special touches. Soon, we had a wealth of options in netbooks.
In 2008, netbook sales exploded to 11.4 million units worldwide, and took significant market share away from conventional laptops. Moreover, current projections call for 2009 sales figure to triple. Netbooks have become the rising star, even as sales for all other desktops and laptops continue to drop. By now, it is evident that netbooks have gone from novelties to fixtures in the computing landscape.
Operating Systems
The first batch of netbooks ran Linux -- a free alternative to Windows. Linux enabled manufacturers to bypass the licensing fee they normally had to pay Microsoft, so it was a natural fit for the low-cost philosophy central to netbooks.
Once netbooks became a runaway success, Microsoft awoke to the realization that it was about to miss out on a huge opportunity. It quickly changed its licensing structure to lower the barrier to manufacturers, to bring them back into the fold. Over the span of several months, Microsoft re-asserted its dominance among netbooks. Today, Windows XP is back on top as the most prevalent operating system for netbooks. Linux, once again, takes a back seat.
Many technical people who want to see Linux succeed are understandably disappointed. Nevertheless, the netbook's history means it is relatively easy to get Linux to run on a netbook, even if it does not come installed with a distribution. A considerable amount of work has been done to make Linux run well on the Intel Atom platform, and this directly benefits users who wish to experiment with different operating systems on their netbooks.
Another factor that comes into play is that because netbooks use the same chipsets as the Mac mini from Apple Computer, Mac OS X already has a high degree of compatibility with netbooks. This makes it easy for the knowledgeable hobbyist to "hack" Apple's operating system and, in effect, create their own inexpensive, small and light MacBooks. Doing so violates Apple's End User Licensing Agreement and cannot be recommended by anyone for any purpose -- but it is interesting to note that netbooks are so versatile that they can even run an operating system that was never intended for it.
Dell
Dell had an early success with its Mini 9 netbook. Its sturdy construction, low price, silent operation and long battery life (over three hours) won many fans. It is, as of this writing, the top-ranking laptop at the popular NotebookReview.com web site.
Not content to rest on its laurels, Dell is now introducing the Mini 10. As its name suggests, this is a 10” netbook, slightly larger than the Mini 9 with its 8.9” screen. It improves on the Mini 9 in several respects. Most notably, its keyboard is a more spacious, edge-to-edge design that is comfortable to type on and requires little or no adjustments for touch typists.
In many ways, the size of the Mini 10 is ideal. Smaller netbooks are wonderful for viewing content -- checking e-mail, reading blog entries -- but they are not so well suited for writing. You can use it to compose short e-mails with a few lines, but for writing anything longer and more complex, the small keyboard can quickly become confining, even frustrating.
A small difference of one inch makes a huge difference. The 10” form factor gives a netbook that little bit of extra room it needs to become a professional tool. Writers, journalists, bloggers and programmers will have no trouble being productive on a machine like the Mini 10 -- and yet it is small enough to still retain the portability benefits of its smaller sibling.
Cloud Computing
Years from now, we are likely to look back on today and note that this is the point in time when netbooks and cloud computing come together to create a powerful synergy. The small size and easy portability of netbooks let us maintain our connection to the Internet more frequently and consistently than before, and the more we link up to the cloud, the more powerful cloud computing becomes.
Slowly but surely, people are moving into the clouds. Many already prefer Gmail over desktop e-mail software. Some are just beginning to realize the tremendous benefits of moving their documents into Google Docs. As time goes on, we'll see that many tasks that used to require desktop applications can be done better, cheaper, and more reliably on the Internet. Whether it's basic editing of spreadsheets or photos, we are doing things in a browser window that we never thought we would only a few years ago.
The netbook revolution continues. Just as netbooks today bear little resemblance to the original vision for the Eee PC, it is difficult to predict how this technology will continue to evolve -- and transform our computing habits in the process. SADA Launches New Website Built Entirely on Google Sites
January 7, 2009-North Hollywood, CA:SADA Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the beta release of the first major revision to their website in three years. The new website was in development for most of the last half of 2008. To streamline the website and make the content as immediately available to clients and website visitors as possible SADA elected to develop it entirely in Google Sites. Google Sites is a rich website creation solution that is part of the Google Apps suite of "software-as-service" products. Google Sites is a powerful, cloud-based communication and collaboration platform. Building the site on the Google Sites platform provides SADA with the opportunity to explore the development of unique Google Gadgets some of which can currently be experienced on the website. It is SADA's intention that especially useful or practical gadgets developed for the website will be made available to the public in the future.
“Why would a company who has web designers and developers on staff use Google Sites for their own website," says Tony Safoian, president and CEO of SADA, "Simply because their time is better spent doing custom client work, and this new platform allows our marketing team to update our own website instantly and, without burning very expensive development hours." Safoian's comment refers to making the ability to update the website accessible to anybody within SADA's organization. Updates to content, images, even videos no longer have to go through a web designer to be applied. There is no code to edit, and no special knowledge is required. SADA hopes this will ultimately mean the website is constantly being updated with fresh content, and there will always be something new on the website that will keep website visitors coming back.
Google Sites provides a search box for all of their pages. This means that all content, on every page of SADA's new site is a searchable term. Visitors to SADA's website who are unsure how to find an article, or page, or specific content may enter search terms in the search box provided on the website. Google's own search engine then crawls the website and returns pages with content matching the visitor’s request. SADA hopes this will help make the new site easier to navigate, and more meaningful to website visitors.

SADA President and CEO, Tony Safoian, joined a crowd of developers and IT professionals estimated in San Fransisco late last month to attend Google's annual developer conference, Google I/O. This conference provides developers and professionals from all over the world a forum to share their experiences, and announce new products or developments in the world of Internet technology.
