Google Saves the Day with Consistency...
The lack of a witty title for this article speaks to shear practicality of the topic at hand. Google's recent step forward to level the playing field within applications with regards to saving your work. There is nothing witty about the feature itself. This simple brilliance has become a simple expectation that we can save our work when we want, it automatically saves if we don't, and it saves us from saving our work by subtly notifying us that is currently being saved. Did you follow? Good. Google is taking this saving functionality with its new 'saved' - 'saving' - 'save' buttons and sharing it. So the convenient and at times life saving feature currently available in Google Docs and Google Presentations is now expected to make its debut in Google Sheets. Hats off to Google for leveling the playing field among its applications. We love the comfort of the save feature and we now love that we will soon be able to use it in Google Sheets and other applications too. Can't wait to see the next feature they roll out with. This saving feature is coming soon to a Google Sheet near you. Labels: Google, Goolge Apps, sada systems

Haiti shaken by tragedy, SADA motivated to help.
Result? SADA will donate 1% of all cloud-computing based revenues through February to Yele Haiti and UNICEF.
The 7.0 earthquake to ravage Haiti earlier this week has made news across the globe. As the images of the aftermath make their way around the world, we are all trying to do our part to help. Hence, we will donate 1% of all cloud-computing based revenues ( Google Apps & Microsoft BPOS) to the following two organizations that are helping serve the victims of Haiti. Both Yele Haiti and UNICEF are among the organizations rushing to the scene to help secure fundamental resources like clean water and shelter which are crucial in securing sanitary living environments as the rebuilding process begins. As of now we are tallying votes to see which of the two charities, Yele Haiti or UNICEF, you would like our donation to go to. City of LA Goes Google Apps; SADA to Assist Effort
Today Google announced on their official Blog that the City of Los Angeles is kicking off an effort to transition over 30,000 employees to cloud computing and Google Apps.
The story of Los Angeles moving to Google Apps started early this year, when the city's Chief Technology Officer, Randi Levin, and her team at the Information Technology Agency (ITA) looked to replace their aging, on-premise system with more secure, productivity-focused technology. After calling for proposals and carefully evaluating over 14 different ones, Randi and the ITA decided to revamp the city government's email technology by adopting Google Apps.
Los Angeles will be the first major city and the largest in the US to move to Google's platform. At the time Google's bid was approved by the Los Angeles City Council, Councilman Tony Cardenas, who made the motion in Council to go Google, told the Los Angeles Times that the City had made a "world-class decision" to go Google. CTO Randi Levin explains in more depth her organization's decision to go Google in this post at Google's Enterprise Blog
For the last year, SADA Systems, Inc. has been a part of supporting this effort. Beginning today we are proud, along with Computer Sciences Corporation to be part of the Google team that will implement the solution for the City.

Continuing Medical Education Expands Beyond the Walls of the Medical Center with SADA's CME Anywhere
There is a rising trend in the medical profession of providing online content for medical and administrative staff. One area that has grown considerably is providing online programming that allows physicians to earn their Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit. Online lectures allow physicians and other health care professionals to fulfill their CME requirements without having to take time away from patients. With CME Anywhere, these professionals can engage in professional development and earn CME credit literally anywhere and at any time of the day.
With that need in mind, SADA Systems has developed a turnkey CME platform - CME Anywhere - that allows delivery of video content through a health care provider, or health care organization website.
This web-based application was initially developed for Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, and has been in place for over a year. The solution developed for Providence St. Joseph has proven successful, and serves as a terrific proof-of-concept for the implementation of online lecture series provided by a health care organization for their physicians.
SADA Systems, Inc. will debut the latest version of this system at our exhibitor booth at the Southern California Medical Education Council (SCMEC) 13th Annual Conference to be held Friday, November 20th at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Google Apps for Education Success Story: "Call SADA Systems!"
In the fall of 2008, the University of San Diego embarked on a project to migrate over 13,000 student e-mail accounts from our current system to the branded Google Apps offering: ToreroMail (powered by Google) http://ToreroMail.sandiego.edu The team at SADA Systems hosts this webpage and since going into full production, provides one of the highest levels of reliability and uptime of all our applications. We partnered with SADA Systems to provide expertise in systems implementation – integrating our on-site authentication system to the suite of Google applications. Because of our relationship with SADA Systems we were able to use their custom-made tools to allow students to ‘self-migrate’ to the new ToreroMail (powered by Google). Leveraging the Google IMAP migration tool also allowed us to move e-mail and account authentication for as many as 5180 accounts in one week. The student experience was near seamless and our students never missed one incoming e-mail. After migrating over 13,530 student e-mail accounts to ToreroMail (powered by Google) we have received less than 130 calls into the ITS helpdesk (i.e. less than 0.1% of our client’s ever had issues). At the University of San Diego we consider this a major success! We are grateful to have been able to partner with such a competent team at SADA Systems, Nicky Parseghian and Michael Higby were our go to guys every step of the way and always took our requests seriously and provided a great level of service. To date, the University of San Diego has over 15,300 student who have “e-mail for life” on the ToreroMail offering, powered by Google Apps. Moving to Google Apps.? Google Sets User Account Limit on Standard Edition
Google has announced that starting today Google Apps Standard Edition will support a maximum of 50 users for new customers.
This limit will not affect current Standard Edition account holders, nor will it impact non-profit or educational users.
Google Apps Standard Edition is the no-charge version of Google Apps. While it supports many of the same features as Google's Premier Version for business clients, it has a number of limitations by comparison including far lower data and email storage size and no access to Google's rich set of Application Program Interfaces (APIs) which allow for the customization and integration many clients need.
In addition to offering Google Apps deployment, integration and customization services for it's clients, SADA Systems, Inc. is now an official Google Apps Reseller. By purchasing Google Apps Premier Edition accounts through SADA clients engage with one of the most experienced Google Apps Enterprise Partners in the world. SADA Launches New Website Built Entirely on Google Sites
January 7, 2009-North Hollywood, CA:SADA Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the beta release of the first major revision to their website in three years. The new website was in development for most of the last half of 2008. To streamline the website and make the content as immediately available to clients and website visitors as possible SADA elected to develop it entirely in Google Sites. Google Sites is a rich website creation solution that is part of the Google Apps suite of "software-as-service" products. Google Sites is a powerful, cloud-based communication and collaboration platform.
Building the site on the Google Sites platform provides SADA with the opportunity to explore the development of unique Google Gadgets some of which can currently be experienced on the website. It is SADA's intention that especially useful or practical gadgets developed for the website will be made available to the public in the future.
“Why would a company who has web designers and developers on staff use Google Sites for their own website," says Tony Safoian, president and CEO of SADA, "Simply because their time is better spent doing custom client work, and this new platform allows our marketing team to update our own website instantly and, without burning very expensive development hours." Safoian's comment refers to making the ability to update the website accessible to anybody within SADA's organization. Updates to content, images, even videos no longer have to go through a web designer to be applied. There is no code to edit, and no special knowledge is required. SADA hopes this will ultimately mean the website is constantly being updated with fresh content, and there will always be something new on the website that will keep website visitors coming back.
Google Sites provides a search box for all of their pages. This means that all content, on every page of SADA's new site is a searchable term. Visitors to SADA's website who are unsure how to find an article, or page, or specific content may enter search terms in the search box provided on the website. Google's own search engine then crawls the website and returns pages with content matching the visitor’s request. SADA hopes this will help make the new site easier to navigate, and more meaningful to website visitors. Labels: cloud computing, google gadgets, Google Sites, sada systems, website development
SADA Systems and Denver Seminary
One of the first 10 Google Apps for Enterprise partners worldwide and initial contributor to the Google Apps Open Source provisioning toolkit, SADA Systems, Inc. has developed a proven track record in implementation of Google Apps solutions. SADA works with a diverse client base to create custom, leading edge solutions that strategically meet client business objectives.
Founded in 1950, Denver Seminary offers a number of masters and doctoral level programs for clergy, counselors and other faith workers. The Seminary is home to nearly 900 current students and has graduated over 4000 alumni.
Challenges
Prior to adopting Google Apps, Denver Seminary did not provide its students with email accounts. Staff and faculty email was served through Microsoft Exchange however the Seminary did not see that as an appropriate solution for student email. Denver Seminary chose to use Google Apps Education Edition to fulfill this need and turned to SADA to help with deployment and implementation.
Solutions
SADA first reviewed Denver Seminary's existing IT environment. They assisted Denver Seminary with the sign up and initial account setup for Google Apps Education Edition. SADA then configured the seminary's MX/DNS records, and set up a Dual Delivery system for staff members already on Microsoft Exchange. SADA deployed its Google Apps User Provisioning/Synchronization and Web Single Sign-On tools. Each of these tools allows Denver Seminary IT staff to provision and synchronize Google Apps accounts through it's Active Directory (AD) and gives the Seminary's users access their Google Apps accounts with their AD credentials.
Results
By implementing Google's and SADA's solutions, Denver Seminary has an email solution that comes with lower IT administration costs, higher user satisfaction, and increased productivity. This peace of mind allows Denver Seminary IT focus on more strategic initiatives.
"SADA Systems was a pleasure to work with," says Jason Adams, Director of IT for Denver Seminary. "I am impressed by their relationship with Google, something I didn't feel other vendors had. They brought experience and knowledge which was extremely important and helpful in getting us up and running."
He continues, "We are using SADA's fully hosted solution - they took care of everything, there was very little for us to do. And with the few resources we have that makes a huge difference - without breaking our bank! I would recommend SADA Systems to everyone looking to deploy Google Apps in their environment." Google Features SADA on Google Enterprise Blog
SADA was proud to have some of our recent Google Apps work featured on the Official Google Enterprise Blog which covers Google solutions around enterprise information, search, and apps: One of our more active partners so far is SADA Systems, Inc. SADA is involved in many Google Apps projects, most recently helping Virgin Mobile USA develop a custom hosted Single Sign-On solution in just three days.
SADA also assisted Kings, Krebs, and Jurgens, a New Orleans-based law firm, in their recent deployment of Google Apps. Working side-by-side with the firm's IT staff, SADA ensured that the Google Apps deployment complied with the firm's legal requirements for retaining old emails. They also implemented a dual delivery email configuration that continues mail delivery to the legacy system as the firm evolves to Google Apps.
Finally, SADA helped Kent State University provision accounts and migrate data to Google Apps Education Edition for more than 120,000 students, faculty, and staff. To read the rest of the post please click here.

Kent State on way to Provisioning 120K Google Apps Accounts
This fall, Kent State University is replacing its internally-managed e-mail system with Google E-mail. The change affects all of the university’s students, part-time and emeriti faculty and alumni, a total of more than 120,000 e-mail accounts. Kent State chose the Google Apps Education Edition for several reasons. Most significant to the decision were the benefits that Google offers to its users in terms of mailbox size; built-in chat and calendaring; and the online suite of document, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
The result to date has been extremely successful. So far, more than 19,000 individuals have chosen to activate their accounts early. “We’re now able to provide students with access to applications that would be too costly for Kent State to build internally,” Edward Mahon, vice president for information services and chief information officer at Kent State, says. “As a result, the switch to Google offers a cost savings not only to the university, but also to students.” Because of the scope of the project and the number of individuals across the university who are affected by the change, Kent State’s Google Implementation Team — which includes representatives from Information Services as well as University Communications and Marketing — has been meeting regularly since June to plan for the transition. The team decided early on that it was important to manage effectively the activation of accounts, not only to spread out the impact of the actual account migration, but also to mitigate the volume of calls to the university’s Helpdesk.
"SADA has provided invaluable assistance as an implementation partner" Roberta Sikula-Schwalm
Kent State Associate Vice President of Information Services
For these reasons, the transition plan includes a nearly two-month early activation period, in which individuals are given the option of creating their Google accounts themselves by logging into a Web site, http://google.kent.edu. They simply sign in to the page with their university I.D. and password, which validates that they are eligible for a Google E-mail account. One of the other important aspects of the plan was allowing users the option to move their old e-mail and contacts list to their new Google account. For this critical component of the project, the university called upon the expertise of SADA Systems to help create a unique opt-in solution that allows users to migrate their e-mail from the same self-service Web site. For the individual user, it’s as simple as checking a box, and their old e-mails and contacts show up automatically in their new Google E-mail accounts. A comprehensive communications plan was executed to ensure everyone was fully aware of the transition. This included face-to-face meetings with various stakeholder groups; weekly targeted e-mails; story placement in student and internal media outlets; advertising; and postcard mailings. During the kickoff week of Nov. 3, a table was staffed in the university’s student center during lunch hours to activate accounts and answer questions. Viral, word-of-mouth marketing was enhanced through the creation of a Facebook page, distribution of T-shirts with the project logo design and chalk messaging on sidewalks in high-traffic areas on campus. Additionally, the university’s Google Web site included links to multiple tutorials and how-to documents, both those created in-house and supplied by links to Google’s help pages. According to Kent State Associate Vice President of Information Services Roberta Sikula-Schwalm the result to date has been extremely successful. "So far, more than 19,000 individuals have chosen to activate their accounts early, just two weeks following the project launch. SADA has provided invaluable assistance as an implementation partner in working through technical questions regarding the migration, and the Kent State community seems pleased with the new features they are accessing through their Google E-mail accounts."
